"Oh Jesus, I’m lost forever," cried a woman.

The Revival by God that started in Wales in 1859 had spread. Hundreds of thousands of people repented. They cried out for Jesus to save them from their sin and eternal damnation. They came under conviction that they were out of options. They wanted Jesus and Him Alone!

-Broken hearts begging God for mercy…

-Preachers proclaiming the eternal life giving truth and love of God's Holy Scriptures, the Bible…

-18,000 people gathering without any sound system to hear God's Word and to pray…

-Public Houses (Bars) utterly closing down…

-Marriages being rescued…

The Liverpool Penitentiary

“A clergyman by the name of Rev. John Baillie visited the Liverpool Penitentiary and addressed the women inmates for about 45 minutes on the revival. He then asked them if they meant to turn their backs that night coldly on Jesus and said that he would give them two minutes to consider their answer.

Before the two minutes had expired one of them cried out, ‘Oh Jesus, I’m lost forever,’ and fell prostrate on the floor. Others immediately cried out and in a few minutes the whole number were sobbing in intense anguish. He felt that he could say and do nothing, as the Lord had taken the whole thing into his own hand.

He had to go away, and in about two hours he called at the Penitentiary, and found that they had continued in that state for nearly that time, till they went to bed. One who had before been seeking Jesus, found Him in the interval and had been speaking to others about Him.”

The Liverpool School

“Attached to a chapel where revival services were being held was a school of two to three hundred children from the surrounding neighbourhood. During the first week, while the revival services were being held in the chapel a few children of the day school were seen earnestly seeking mercy.

The next morning, the teacher of the school, rose at the early hour, and, while pleading for the rapid spread of the revival, and particularly that the work that had commenced among the children might go on, she had the assurance that God was going to work mightily.

That morning, before the usual school duties were commenced, she taught the children the text ‘Now is the accepted time, behold today is the day of salvation.’ She then requested the children to remain silent for a few moments, and reflect upon the word ‘now.’

She broke the solemn silence by praying audibly; when she heard stifled sobs all around her, and on rising from prayer she found herself surrounded by a large number of deeply convicted children. Some cried out, ‘Oh, teacher, pray for us,’ whilst others, leaning upon her shoulder, sobbed out, ‘Oh, teacher, we will give our hearts to Jesus.’

She then asked all that had fully resolved to come to Jesus to follow her from the schoolroom to the chapel vestry. The vestry was immediately filled, and some, unable to get in, were kneeling outside the vestry door.”¹   {Bold added}

Dear friend, have you run out of options? Do you sense the gripping urgency? Eternity is coming soon. Your life on earth is quickly fading. Do you realize your sin has already condemned you? You cannot enter Heaven unless Jesus Christ, God's only Son, saves you!

Hebrews 9:27 says, “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus saves you not by your attempt to earn or perform your way into Heaven, but by His sacrificial demonstration of love on the Cross.

PUT YOUR TRUST IN JESUS.

If you, like many people, are trying to become acceptable to God based on your own merit, performance, or good deeds, God wants you to know that:

“…all our righteous acts are like filthy rags...” Isaiah 64:6

God does not want you to trust in your effort, your obedience, or how active you are in your church.

He wants you to trust only in Jesus and His ability to forgive you and save you. He alone can "make" you righteous. You can’t try hard to become righteous. You are "made" righteous by Him.                                            II Corinthians 5:21.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”  Ephesians 2:8,9

To know these truths is not enough. You must individually receive Christ. Listen to the comforting and assuring Word of God:

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”  John 1:12

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Acts 2:21

RECEIVE (GLADLY WELCOME ) JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR LIFE AS YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD.

Right now, if you are not His, will you receive (gladly welcome) Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord?

Please pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus,

I need You. I confess I am a sinner and without Your forgiveness and

new life I will remain forever lost and separated from You by my sin.

Right now, I choose to receive You into my life. Come in, Lord Jesus.

Thank You for forgiving all my sin—past, present, and future. Make

me the kind of person You want me to be. Thank you, Lord.”²

His scoped rifle was pointed right at me!

This Communist Czechoslovakian Iron Curtain tower guard had me in his cross hairs. As an Army Lieutenant, it was my duty that day to take a military jeep deep in the German forest and inspect the border between Germany and Communist Czechoslovakia.

I told my jeep driver to drive right up to the “Line”.
The dividing wall consisted only of a small ditch with some fence and a strand of barbed wire. The rest of the area was forest with a few clearings interspersed.

On the Communist side there was a high wooden look-out tower with one guard in it. On the ground below, there were 6 soldiers playing a game of soccer.

I remember the cool of that morning in that deep forest. The air was fresh and saturated with oxygen. All seemed peaceful.

Our jeep came up near to the barbed wire. I gave a slight wave to the tower guard.

He trained his high powered rifle with its scope on us to get a “closer” look! I can only assume his rifle was loaded. Since I did not want an international border incident and I did not want us to get shot, I quickly yelled to my driver, “Let’s get out of here!!!” We drove north into the forest as fast and as far away from our enemy as possible.

That experience stuck with me.

That guard and I, sadly, were enemies. I did not even know his name.

I was reading in Romans recently. Chapter 5 tells us that we are enemies of God unless He saves us, forgives us, reconciles us, and washes us clean with His cleansing blood.

“For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”   NIV

When you choose to trust the Lord Jesus and embrace the truth that He voluntarily shed His blood and died for you on that wretched cross 2000 years ago, your status as an enemy changes. Before, you were a sinful enemy of God guilty and deserving of condemnation and judgement. Once He saves you and you call upon Him to forgive and wash you clean with His cleansing, pure blood, you become His friend.

More than a friend, you become his own daughter or son. He adopts you. You are born again.

Verses 6-9 says, “⁶ You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. ⁸ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ⁹ Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” NIV

Jesus, God's only Son, loves you so much that He took your sin, past, present, and future, off of you and owned it as if He committed them all. The cross hairs of God's judgement fell suddenly upon His own, beloved Son. Jesus became His Father’s enemy so that you would not have to!

In exchange for removing your Hell deserving sin, Jesus freely gave you His Heaven assuring righteousness, holiness, purity, and never ending holy standing.

Some call this THE GREAT EXCHANGE. He took “the bullet” of God, the father’s judgement and punishment for your sin. When He now looks at you, He sees His new child who now and forever possesses eternal perfection, the same as that of His Son, Jesus. You are pure Royalty and Family now.

When was the last time you wept over something? For most of us, it has been awhile. I remember weeping over the loss of my first wife after she succumbed to a 7 year battle against cancer. I remember shedding a tear when my dad died.

I really lost it when we had to put our beloved Golden Retriever down due to rapidly failing health. Oliver was my best friend. I wept like a baby for an hour. Finally, Barbara and I wept together at the end of an excellent movie AUGUST RUSH when a broken family is reunited. What an ending!

I have never wept like Jesus did when He openly wept over His beloved Eternal City Jerusalem.

In the New Testament of the Bible in the 19th chapter of Luke, it reads,

“41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42 saying,” Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side 44 and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” ESV

Jesus, God's only Son, the Creator of the Universe, and the only Savior available was rejected by His own beloved people. He knew, many would now perish and would have to face the wrath of Almighty God for their ghastly sin and unholiness. Our Holy God cannot be in the presence of unholiness and imperfection. If so, it would be worse than lighting a match and throwing it into a vast ocean of gasoline!

Question #1: Are you weeping over a family member or friend who is rejecting the Savior Jesus`s offer of forgiveness and His Righteousness in exchange for their filthy rags of putrid sin, eternal condemnation and damnation?

Question #2: Are you grieving and troubled over the darkening plague of evil, violence, and rage that is blanketing your Nation and others?

Question #3: Are you perhaps struggling mightily as to whether or not you should fully surrender your life, your sin, your soul, and your future at the foot of the Cross of Christ?

Recall these biblical truths.

"Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins." - Ecclesiastes 7:20 NIV

"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness," - Romans 1:18 NIV

"Because of these, the wrath of God is coming." - Colossians 3:6 NIV

I plead with you dear brother or sister. Jesus is calling.

Is He weeping over you?

He says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”      Matthew 11:28 ESV

Remember. Not everyone who is nice, or who attends church, or who bumps into you on the street or at the ball game, is a child of God. Only a select, chosen few are.

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13

If He is tugging at you, drop everything! Run to Him! Fall at His feet. Cry out to Him to save, redeem, and rescue you from your sin and from God's eternal wrath. He promises to do so. Please receive Him and believe in His Name!

Although, Revelation 3:20 was written for a Christian audience, its message can apply to you here and now.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20 NIV

Would you consider cuddle praying in bed with your spouse tonight?

You know, most Christian couples go to bed at night never uttering a word to God out loud together. Having counseled or worked with marriages and families for many years, Barbara and I have discovered a major key to maintaining a loving, confessed, Christ-focused, and God-honoring marriage.

Cuddle Praying Out Loud Together in Bed at Bedtime.

In Psalm 86:11b, King David pleads, "give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." The devil's plan for your marriage and mine is isolation. God's plan is the opposite: oneness.

The business of our workloads and our crazy schedules works to move us to exhaustion and finally isolation during any given day. We must have a plan to promote oneness, tenderness, and sweetness in our marital relationship! We must be disciplined to insure our hearts toward the Lord Jesus and toward our mate remain undivided and singularly devoted.

Spiritual intimacy is the highest form of intimacy in marriage. Allowing unconfessed sin to build up in your heart and, thus, your marriage, slowly anesthetizes your soul. The wicked one gradually moves your heart and your marital relationship down four wretched rungs of the "devil's ladder". 

1.  First, he isolates you.

2. Then, he discourages you.

3. Next, he deceives you.

4. Finally, he destroys you.

Couples that discipline themselves to cuddle pray each night don't drift apart. The problem is many married couples do not go to bed together at the same time. One is tired. The other is a night owl.

Remember: Nothing good happens after midnight.

Here are just some of the benefits of Cuddle Praying:

• You cannot honestly pray out loud with your mate if you are carnal, with unconfessed sin in your heart.
• God is pleased since your marriage is becoming a Gospel Light Marriage: One that often prays out loud together and shines Christ's message of redemption and hope to the world.
• He is blessed because you are obeying His commands more and more which demonstrates your love, as a couple, for Him. 1Thessalonians 5:16-18, "¹⁶ Rejoice always, ¹⁷ pray continually, ¹⁸ give thanks in all circumstances;for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
• God's angelic protection over you and your family is ever increased.
• As you draw closer to Christ in prayer, He draws you closer to one another.
• You are blessed because you choose to humble yourself before almighty God and entrust all concerns to Him. You then sleep. He does not need to. Pride will keep you from praying. Always!

The Gospel Light Marriage begins to understand that God wants to reach and save souls through their marital oneness. This couple who is fully yielded to the Holy Spirit becomes a powerful ambassador for Christ. They become a cinematic representation that is broadcast to the world, first to their children, if any, and then to the church, the community, and to the world! They are Christ Imagers.

They come to know that without prayer, nothing of eternal significance happens.

They learn that prayer unleashes the power of God to act in time of need.

Cuddle praying humbly, and with pure hearts may be the most powerful force on earth.

I do not mean those who talk about prayer; not those who can explain about prayer; but I mean those people who take time and pray”
